Women in Business Awards
Something exciting has been happening in the Much Ado world this Autumn and I’d like to take this opportunity to tell you all about it!
The Nottingham Post newspaper hold an event every year to celebrate women in business, and their contribution to the business world. I’m very pleased to announce that not only was Much Ado nominated by many members of the public in four different categories (New Business of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Inspirational Woman of the Year and Rising Star) but we were shortlisted, along with two other companies, for the New Business of the Year award!
As Much Ado was created in September 2016, and has only been trading since March 2017 this is an incredible achievement. To even be nominated for these awards as such a young company came as a complete shock to me, and I’m so humbled to know that the work we’re doing in the community is clearly being noticed and appreciated.
As a finalist in the New Business of the Year category we were invited to the awards ceremony at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Nottingham City Centre where we were treated to a three course meal and speeches by some incredibly inspiring women in business in the local area.
Much Ado was up against some incredibly tough competition in this category – An HR company who specifically help start up companies in the area (My HR Hub), and a bakery that offers Michelin style food and live music (The Bakehouse).
Sadly the night ended with commiseration rather than celebratory prosecco as The Bakehouse were the ones to win the award, however this didn’t dampen our spirits as we still left with our ‘Finalist’ certificate and a whole host of new contacts, including a bakery that create alcoholic cakes! (Cakespeare anyone?!)
I want to say a huge congratulations to all those who were nominated, shortlisted and the winners – it’s a fantastic achievement and, as women we do have a tendency to downplay our successes, so I want to make it clear that I am celebrating all of you for your incredible accomplishments – Well done!
We had a wonderful time at the awards ceremony and I can only think that if we’re being nominated and shortlisted for awards in our first year, just think what we might be able to achieve next year!
